Situated adjacent the sealed The Gap road and either bounded or divided by good quality rubble roads, Boorala is set up for year-round marketing of a variety of grains and livestock. Being situated in a reliable 525mm rainfall area and with a strong fertiliser history, Boorala has excellent production records for its farming and livestock enterprises. There are established laneways and road corridors is easy to manage both for farming and livestock.

The property is very well fenced and watered. Boorala sits on an aquifer of abundant good quality water, ensuring livestock always have a reliable water supply. There is a system of bores, windmills, electric submersible pumps and solar panels that are interconnected through poly and concrete tanks to ensure a reliable stock water system.

Boorala currently crops 800 hectares, but this could be increased to 1200 hectares if desired. Grain is marketed through outlets at Frances, Padthaway, Adelaide, Portland and Melbourne. Some grain is stored and sold off season to local, Western District and Mallee clients. Hay production is sold to an established local and out of district clientele. The consistent application of fertilizer on the crops and pasture ensure high crop yields and strong productive pastures. An annual renovation program is part of the cropping regime.

Prime lambs and cattle are marketed through the renowned Naracoorte Livestock exchange or on hooks, to feedlots and on farm. Livestock are sent to abattoirs at Murray Bridge, Lobethal, Bordertown, Naracoorte, Warrnambool and Eastern states feedlots depending on season and market forces.

A system of shallow drains results in Boorala being well drained ensuring maximum production of crops and livestock.

The improvements on Boorala are in good condition. The main well-maintained home has four bedrooms plus a sleepout and is situated in a picturesque setting of lawns, trees and shrubs. A four-bedroom cottage is available for property staff. The seven-bedroom shearers quarters are adjacent the main shearing shed.

There are two working shearing sheds with very good sheep yards. One six stand across board ( five equipped) and the other a four stand (two equipped) curved board shed with concrete floor. A Racewell air operated sheep handler with Trutest scales and three-way auto draft lend to easy handling of sheep and lambs. Boorala has two sets of cattle yards. Hay is stored in the as new “Action” galvanized steel framed three sided 40m x 17m x 8m shed that has a holding capacity of approximately 1000 8ft x 4ft x 3ft hay bales. There is also a 40m x 13m hayshed. A 10m x 8m steel frame machinery shed is located at the Eastern end of the property. There are five grain silos situated at the main homestead area and five silos at the Eastern end of the property. These silos are located on an excellent rubble pad allowing twelve months access to grain. Providing sufficient on property storage for off-season marketing.
